RISE TO DEFEND THE HONOUR OF THE MUSLIMS
What is this conference about?
It is authentically narrated by Sa’eed through his chain from Hibban bin Jabalah that the Final Prophet of Allah (SWT) Muhammad (SAW) said, ‘Indeed it is obligatory upon the Muslims to free their captives or to pay their ransoms.’
Currently, the Muslim Ummah is facing a dire situation, with thousands of our Muslim brothers being held captive by the disbelievers all around the world. The situation is further exacberated by the failure of the Muslims in general to respond to the appeals of the aseer (prisoners), and continuing with their lives unaffected by the severity of the situation in hand. Unfortunately, we now see how the disbelievers have increased their attack on Islam and Muslims by violating the honour of the believers, imprisoning Muslim sisters and furthermore being unashamed of these actions.
In light of this, a conference has been organised by sincere Muslims, to highlight the severity of the problem and demonstrate how every Muslim brother and sister, particularly in the UK can play a role in solving this current crisis.
O Muslims! Is it not about time that you responded?
Who are the Speakers and What are their Topics?
1) Honour Violated - Abu Muaz, Head of the UK Salafi Youth Movement
2) How to Defend - Abu Yahya, Spokesman for the Followers of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’aah
3) The Way Forward - Abu Rumaysah, Student at the London School of Shari’ah
When is it?
Sunday, 2nd November 2008, 2pm – 6pm
Where is it?
How much will it cost?
There is no admission fee.
Will there be any Islamic merchandise for sale?
DVD’s (£2), Shadah Flags (£5) and other memorabilia will be sold inshaa’allah

Some Ahadith About the Jazira and Fitan Before the Day of Judgment
as-Salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu:
I though it might be beneficial that we reflect on some of the ahadith regarding fitan in the Jazira prior to the Day of Judgment. Of course, we should remember that only Allah knows when these events will pass. My reference is at-Tuwaijari’s Itihaf al-Jama’a, I, pp. 75-81 (may Allah be merciful with him):
Chapter: What Has been Related Regarding a Fitna that Will Sweep the Arabs Away
Upon ‘Abdullah b. Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said: The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: There will be a fitna that will clean (tastanzifu) the Arabs, its dead will be in Hell. During which the tongue will be more severe (ashadd) than a blow of the sword.
Reported by Ahamd, Abu Dawud, at-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah. At-Tirmidhi said that this hadith is gharib.
At-Tuwaijari then comments on the narrators of this narration and after concluding that the hadith is hasan he proceeds to explain it as follows:
[Regarding the Prophet's] statement “cleans the Arabs,” Ibn al-Athir and Ibn al-Manzur [my note: Ibn al-Athir is the scholar who wrote an-Nihaya fi Gharib al-Hadith, a dictionary on uncommon words found in hadith texts; Ibn al-Manzur is the author of the famous Lisan al-Arab.] have said: It means it will encompass them in destruction. It is said [in Arabic]: istanzafat ash-shay’, if you take it all. … . While Ali al-Qari has said in al-Mirqat [my note: al-Mirqat is a commentary of Mishkat al-Masabih]: It has been said that it means it will purify them from filth (al-ardhal) [my note: perhaps here it is best translated as sins] and the people of al-fitan.
I (i.e. at-Tuwajari) say: This [second] opinion is strong in light of the evidence, even though the first opinion is stronger in light of the [Arabic] language.
What bears witness to what al-Qari has said is what has been mentioned regarding the fitna known as ad-duhaima’ [my note: ad-duhaima' means black and dark, at-Tuwaijiri gives a lengthy discussion on the meaning of this word on pages 55-56.]. [Where the Prophet said]: It will not leave any single individual of this umma but slap him on the cheek. In [the hadith on the duhaima' fitna, the Prophet] said: “Until the people become two camps: one of faith with no hypocrisy and one of hypocrisy with no faith.”
At-Tuwaijri continues:
This shows that the duhaima’ fitna will clean the believers from the people of fitan, doubt and hypocrisy; not that it will annihilate them completely. And the duhaima’ fitna is the greatest fitna that will occur prior to the appearance of the Antichrist.
At-Tuwaijri then continues:
[Further] evidence that the fitna will not consume all the Arabs is what Muslim reports in his sahih and at-Tirmidhi in his Jami’ upon Jabir b. Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said: Umm Sharik informed that she heard the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) say:
The people will flee from Dajjal to the mountains. Umm Sharik said: O Messenger of Allah where will be the Arabs that day? He replied: They will be few.
At-Tirmidhi said: This hadith is Hasan-Sahih Gharib.
At-Tuwaijari then cites another hadith in Ibn Majah of the same meaning as the one above but with the Prophet’s reply being: “They [i.e., the Arabs] will be few, most of them that day will be in Jerusalem, their imam will be a righteous man…” The hadith then continues to describe the descent of Jesus.
At-Tuwaijari then cites another evidence that not all the Arabs will be annihilated in the Prophet’s hadith in al-Bukhari and Muslim that the Banu Tamim will be most severe of his umma against the Antichrist.
At-Tuwaijari then comments, “The Banu Tamim is a large tribe of Arabs.”
He then relates the hadith reported by al-Hakim regarding the peace between the Muslims and ar-Rum (Christian Europe) to fight a common enemy and the victory of the Muslims over that enemy, followed by the treachery of the Europeans against the Muslim expeditionary force. In the hadith after the Europeans treacherously massacre the Muslim contingent they say to their boy-king, “We have sufficied you the edge of the Arabs.” In other words, we have ended their ability to attack/fight. The hadith then describes how after defeating the Arab army, they will then rally their forces to attack the Middle East coming under eighty banners, under each banner twelve thousand soldiers. (80 x 12,000 = 960, 000 men!)
After discussing the hadith’s isnad, at-Tuwaijari points out that the proof is the reference to the Arabs which shows that the Great War (al-Malhama al-Kubra) [my note: to which they refer to as Armageddon] will between the Arabs and Europe.
He then relates a hadith from Ahmad and others that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: The Great War, and the conquest of Constantinople, and the appearance of the Antichrist will [all occur] within seven months [of each other].
At-Tuwaijari then surmises that “these four ahadith all indicate that a large number of Arabs will remain after the great fitna mentioned at the beginning of the chapter. Upon this, [the Prophet's] statement, “clean the Arabs,” means that it will consume most of them in destruction. The juxtaposition of the majority when saying all is prevalent in Arabic. And Allah knows best.”
As for the Prophet’s statement: That its dead will be in Hell.
At-Tuwajari then explains that some scholars have interpreted this to mean that since they did not intend by fighting to raise Allah’s word, or push back an injustice, or assist the people of the truth; but rather they sought to show off and sought wealth and power (al-mulk), they are in Hell.
At-Tuwaijari then mentions a number of hadith about fighting under a “blind” banner (rayah ‘immiya), i.e., a call of blind partisanship, be it tribal, national, etc.
At-Tuwaijari then explains how the tongue during this fitna is more severe than the sword as follows: “The confirmation of this is seen in our times in the spread of radio broadcasts and newspapers in all corners of the earth. The tongues of those who speak through [these media], insulting, bellitting, mentioning the faults of those who disagree with them, spreading fitan, and whipping up hatred and animosities is much greater than the blow of the sword.”
At-Tuwaijari then continues by saying: “This fitna [which will clean the Arabs] has yet to occur, and perhaps it is the duhaima’ fitna which will occur just prior to the appearance of the Antichrist.”
He then mentions a number of hadith which tie a deaf, blind fitna and the destruction of the Arabs. One hadith has the wording, “Woe to the Arabs of an evil drawing nigh, its shadow has fallen on [them] by the Lord of the Kaaba, its shadow has fallen on them.” I.e., drawn close so that it is as if its shadow is casted upon them.
Some of these hadith mention that the fitna will occur due to competing claims of jahiliya, i.e., call of nationalism, tribalism, etc.
At-Tuwajari then remarks: “Much death and killing has occurred in our times due to the call of jahiliya especially due to the removal of the imama and the khilafa and it being replaced by jumhuriyas.” (jumhuriya is normally translated as republic, but hear it has a broader meaning to include all governments of the slogan/type for the people, by the people). He continues: “This is the pure resemblance of the infidel nations and following their ways as one sandal resembles the other. It is not far-fetched that the duhaima’ fitna will be due to such call of jahiliya. Refuge is sought with Allah from the fitan.”
He then concludes with a couple of hadith regarding the fitna in general and the eventually total war with Europe.
I also remember that elsewhere in his book he ties the duhaima’ fitna with the drying up/retraction of the Euphrates and its uncovering a mountain of gold.
And Allah knows best.

The success of the Sahaba
Our reality is that we are currently living in a reality where the right of Allah is being violated and the Deen of Islaam is being mocked due to the lack of Islaam being implemented. So it is our responsibility to rectify this the way it was done during the period of the noble companions because they had implemented the Qur’an in preserving in the Deen and raising the word of Allah high.
Our ultimate aim is to attain the pleasure of Allah (swt) and the way we could achieved that is by emulating the Messenger Muhammad (saw) and His companions in all aspects of our lives just as the sahaba did and that is the roadmap to the path of success. The companions of the Messenger Muhammad did not achieve the station of success merely due to the presence of the Messenger Muhammad (saw) but also with the guidance of Allah (swt) and Insha’Allah elaborating on the following points that can be used as a set of guidelines in order to achieve success.
* The Sahaba were successful because they only looked to the Qur’an and sunnah to mould their lives. They were not people who referred to anything other than the guidance of Allah and the Messenger Muhammad.
They rejected sources that contradicted with the Qur’an and the Sunnah but when we look around many people refer to various sources that oppose the path of guidance.
When people refer to other sources to govern their lifestyle they are saying that the Qur’an and Sunnah is insufficient and they resort to un Islaamic ideas to fulfil their instincts. Many people have taken MP’s as their Lord and Democracy as their way of life believing that success lies in this path.
* Their purpose of learning was for a greater reason
The sahaba learnt the deen to find out what was prescribed for them, the commandment and the prohibitions. They did not learn to attain a status or to make money by memorising the verses of Allah as many people do.They learnt the deen to know what Allah has commanded and what he prohibited. However we see many people today
We too should study the Qur’an and the sunnah as a solution to all our problems.
* They entered Islaam without any hesitation with Jahiliyyah being prevalant
We see many people as they start to practice Islaam a large portion of Muslims have hesitations about many aspects of the deen but Allah orders us to accept everything that which he has obliged.
When Umar ibn al Khattab entered Islam he made sure that his lifestyle revolved around the teachings of Islaam when he mentioned in the presence of the Messenger Muhammad (saw) that there is nothing more beloved to him more than the Messenger Muhammad except for himself, in response to his statement the Messenger Muhammad (saw) said that he is not a true believer until he values the Messenger Muhammad more than his own self and at that instance he retracted his previous statement by proclaiming that he holds the Messenger Muhammad more precious than himself.
- When a person starts to practice Islaam he must first give up the Jahilliyyah in his belief, sayings and actions and then implement the beauty of Islaam in his beliefs, sayings and actions.
If we too wish be like the sahaba then must start climbing the ladder of success from start to finish by following their footsteps in all aspects of our lives regardless of the hardship it may entail.
- We must also challenge the jahiliyyah that is prevalent from its rootsIf we are to go out change and challenge all the corruption that is prevalent in society then we must rectify the deficiencies that we have in ourselves.

Seeking the Haqq (Truth)
There are special people in this Ummah that Allah (SWT) has promised to elevate above others; and they are the people of knowledge. Allah (SWT) says:
Allah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge. And Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do. (58:11)
The people of knowledge (or Ahl ul-’Ilm) have been granted this status due to the consequences they face in the dunyaa (i.e. hunger, loss of wealth, imprisonment, ridiculing etc.) and keenness to safeguard the Book of Allah and Sunnah of the Messenger Muhammad (SAW). Because of this, they are people who should be treated with utmost respect for as long as they adhere to the commands of Allah and teachings of His final Prophet (SAW).
Every Muslim should sincerely seek to be from Ahl ul-’Ilm as Allah (SWT) has praised them and has taught His servants to say:
My Lord! Increase me in knowledge. (20:114)
The knowledge which we have been commanded to acquire should, in ideal circumstances, only be sought from Ahl ul-’Ilm. However, with the final Hour drawing closer day-by-day, it is important for the seeker of haq not to limit his source of knowledge only to scholars.
The haq is not restricted to scholars; it can be carried by anyone, man or woman, child or adult, scholar or student. Therefore, it is incorrect for a person to say, for example: “I am not going to read an article or listen to a talk unless it is given by an ‘aalim.”
Such a statement can easily lead to stubbornness. Furthermore, it will prevent the ignorant from increasing their knowledge and receiving hidaayah (guidance) from Allah. Just because a person is a scholar it does not mean that he has absolute knowledge of everything; the scholar and the student are always learning. Also, it is highly probable for a student to be able to explain a certain point or even hukm better than a scholar.
We should distinguish the difference between ‘ilm and hidaayah. A person may have ‘ilm but he may be void of any hidaayah from Allah. Thus, knowledge is useless without hidaayah.
Who should we seek knowledge from?
Firstly, we should seek knowledge from ‘ulamaa (scholars) of haq. Allah (SWT) did not order us to ask doctors, engineers, plumbers or solicitors and so forth for hukm. Rather, He ordered us to ask Ahl udh-Dhikr, i.e. the ‘ulamaa.
However, we should bear in mind that a person cannot be an ‘aalim unless he does the duties of the Ambiyaa’ (Prophets). Hence, if a scholar is imprisoned we no longer refer to him as ‘aalim; we instead refer to him as “learned” or “knowledgeable” (as he is no longer doing the duties of the Ambiyaa’). Similarly, if the khaleefah (leader of the Islamic state) is imprisoned we do not continue to call him khaleefah; if a mujaahid returns from the battlefield we do not continue to call him mujaahid; and if a person returns from Hajj we no longer call him “Hajji”.
If there are no ‘ulamaa of haq available (for whatever reason), we should then refer to their students or close followers who have studied and had musaahabah (i.e. companionship) with them for a reasonable amount of time. Furthermore, we should measure a person’s trustworthiness based upon whether or not they act upon the commands of Allah. For example, one should not seek knowledge from people who are not working collectively in a jamaa’ah to establish Allah’s Deen, or from individuals who live between the Kuffaar and do not command the good and forbid the evil openly and publicly.
In general, it is safe to listen to and seek knowledge from those who: (1) are trustworthy (and fulfil all their duties), (2) refer to the Qur’aan and Sunnah by the understanding of the Sahaabah, and (3) have studied with a scholar of haq.
It is not a condition for a person to be a scholar before he can speak about Islam and give da’wah.
Don’t judge a book by its cover!
How to know who is a scholar of haq (truth) and who is a scholar of baatil (falsehood)
Allah (SWT) has made the haq (truth, i.e. Islam) so clear and distinct from the falsehood. Any person who is on true guidance from his Lord will never suffer from the problem of being confused or uncertain about the haq and ahl ul-haq (the people of truth). However, nowadays since we are living in a time of fitnah the enemy has succeeded in destroying us indirectly via the use of puppet rulers, evil scholars and so called Islamic television channels, websites and radio stations. The criminals, apostates and evil scholars are elevated and promoted as heroes of Islam and the best role models for Muslims to follow.
In this short publication we aim to highlight and discuss how we as Muslims can know the evil scholar from the scholar of haq, and who we can trust for our Deen (seek knowledge from). In our present day reality the majority of Muslims no longer refer back to the Qur’aan and Sunnah exclusively for their actions. Rather, whenever we dispute with them they always refer back to certain figures and ‘ulamaa (scholars) who they blindly follow, such as Sheikh Fawzaan, Ubaykaan and Yusuf al-Qardaawi etc.
Whenever we disagree with such “scholars”, or even follow the fataawaa (divine decrees) of the scholars of haq who have called these people apostates, we are always told, “Who are you compared to these great ‘ulamaa!?” Even despite the fact that these shuyookh (plural for sheikh, i.e. scholar) have contradicted with many issues and divine rules in Islam which should be known to every single Muslim.
However, as we have already mentioned before, Allah (SWT) has made this Deen of ours so clear for us to follow, and has left us with certain guidelines and criteria for ruling, judging and determining the truth. It is not difficult at all for any true Muwahhid (monotheist) to know who is on the haq and who is on baatil. This is because he is equipped with the usool (foundations) of Ahl us-Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah and is uncompromising when it comes to the haq. However, the one who has a disease in his heart does not wish to sincerely worship and please his Lord exclusively. His only concern is to manipulate the divine texts in order to justify his own evil deeds and intentions. Therefore, the reason why he would choose to defend these scholars is because they give him grounds to justify his corruption, despite the fact that they explicitly contradict with what is known in Islam by necessity.
So how can we know who is a scholar of haq and who is a scholar of baatil?
The Messenger Muhammad (SAW) said in a famous hadeeth:
“The ‘ulamaa are inheritors of the Anbiyaa’ (Prophets).” (Abu Daawood and at-Tirmidhi)
This means that the ‘ulamaa have been given the responsibilities of the Prophets after they have passed away. The only differences between the two is that the Anbiyaa’ are infallible and received revelation from Allah; whereas the ‘ulamaa are not infallible (are capable of committing sins) and do not receive any revelation. Therefore, they have been given the exact same duties and responsibilities as the Prophets. These duties are many and can be summarised into at least seven main points.
1. They came with the message of tawheed and rejecting taaghout
Allah (SWT) says in his book, al-Qur’aan:
“And we sent to every nation a messenger (proclaiming): ‘Worship Allah and reject (keep away from) taaghout.’” (16: 36)
Indeed, how can a scholar be an ‘aalim unless he follows the footsteps of the Prophets? All Prophets and Messengers came with a unified message, and that was to order the people to reject taaghout and worship, obey and submit to none but Almighty Allah (SWT). There are numerous articles and books of Ahl us-Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah which discuss the meaning of taaghout; therefore, we are not going to dive into its meaning in depth. However, as a reminder (and reminders benefit the believers) we know very well that at-taaghout in general, is anything which is worshipped, obeyed or followed other than Allah (SWT). Thus, Shaytaan, idols, desires, rulers who do not implement Islam and scholars who do not judge by the Sharee’ah etc. are all forms of taaghout.
Consequently, since they are all forms of taaghout; as a prerequisite of being a Muslim we are obliged to reject, hate, keep distance from, have animosity and make takfeer upon them. The greatest of tawaagheet (plural for taaghout) today are the rulers who do not implement Islam, the scholars who make legal what Allah (SWT) has forbidden, and the kufr law which is widespread in every country today. Therefore, it is impossible for any ‘aalim or ‘ulamaa of haq to defend these people or be close to them in any way. And any scholar who you see defending these people or allying with them is contradicting with, and opposing the path of the Anbiyaa’; therefore, testify that they are crooks and not ahl ul-haq.
Scholars such as Fawzaan, Ubaykan and Yusuf al-Qardaawi are very famously known for supporting the apostate rulers of today who have killed and imprisoned thousands of Muslims, and allying with the disbelievers (by giving fataawaa which justify their actions) against Muslims. Therefore, how can anyone say that these people are great scholars and none has the right to call them Kaafir (for negating their Eemaan), or at least differ with them? Rather than rejecting taaghout, which is what the Anbiyaa’ ordered their people to do, they have allied with them (the tawaagheet) and defend them more than they defend the honour and sanctity of Allah (SWT) and the believers.
2. They all gave da’wah (to Allah’s Deen)
Another duty of the Anbiyaa’ is that Allah (SWT) entrusted them with calling people to His (SWT) Deen and Sharee’ah; therefore, any ‘aalim who is not calling people to Islam openly and publicly is not a scholar of haq. However, this tableegh (or da’wah) was done in a particular way. The Anbiyaa’ (pronounced Ambiyaa’) never called for interfaith (a mixing of beliefs and customs). Rather they dissociated themselves from their people (the Kuffaar) and from what they worshipped besides Allah (SWT):
Prophet Yoosuf (AS) said:
“Verily, I have abandoned the religion of a people that believe not in Allah and are disbelievers in the Hereafter.” (12: 37)
Ibraaheem (AS) said:
“…We have rejected you, and there has started between us and you, animosity and hatred for ever, until you believe in Allah alone” (60: 4)
There are many more aayaat and ahaadeeth which speak about the hatred and animosity of the Anbiyaa’ towards their people and false gods which they worshipped besides Allah (SWT); however, to list them in this short treatise would require too much time.
The main things which should be understood is that the Prophets never called the Kuffaar “brothers”, compromised with them or called for interfaith or integration. Therefore, any scholar who does these actions, such as al-Qardaawi or Hamza Yusuf, are not scholars of haq but scholars of baatil (falsehood), so it is better not to refer to them at all.
3. They all gave bayaan (explanation and elaboration of the divine rules)
Another duty of the Anbiyaa’ was that they were obliged to give bayaan (explanation and elaboration) of the divine rules in order to clear any ambiguity or misconceptions. Therefore, the ‘aalim of haq will always be refuting any innovations (such as the Fiqh for Minorities), misconceptions or any misunderstanding of the divine texts.
4. They guided the people
Allah (SWT) made it an obligation upon the Prophets to guide their people to the truth by making them refer to the revelation, i.e. the scriptures which Allah (SWT) revealed and the traditions of His chosen Messengers and Prophets. However, it was not their duty to make them (the Kuffaar) into believers or give them conviction and tawheed, as this is a form of guidance (tawfeeq) which only Allah (SWT) can grant.
The ‘ulamaa have this same duty of guiding the people to the wahy (revelation) and warn them from following anything other than that. However, the evil scholars of today no longer guide the people to the revelation; rather they guide them to personal benefit, interest and the wishes of the Kuffaar. If these scholars are completely misguided how can we expect them to guide us?
5. They were the best example
The ‘ulamaa should also be an example for us to follow just like the Anbiyaa’. Therefore, they should resemble the Prophets in every way, from their character, personality and behaviour. They should speak, dress, and suffer the same consequences as them.
All the Prophets were attacked by their people, labelled as being a lunatic, extremist and minority etc. They were also rejected, ridiculed and even imprisoned. Therefore, the true scholar of Islam will also be labelled, detested by the Kuffaar, ridiculed and mocked at.
Scholars such as Qardawee and Hamza Yusuf etc. are not attacked, mocked at and ridiculed publicly by the Kuffaar and the majority. Rather they are praised and declared as untouchable. They are (and were) also funded, promoted and endorsed by the tawaagheet. This is another great sign that they are crooks and not on the haq.
Prophet Yoosuf (AS) was imprisoned for years, Ibraaheem (AS) was thrown into fire, Moosaa (AS) and his companions were chased into the sea, and the Quraysh tried to kill Rasool-Ullah (SAW) numerous times. When have these scholars ever been attacked by the Kuffaar or faced similar hardship as the Prophets of Allah (SWT)?
6. They should keep reminding the people
No matter what people say about them (the ‘ulamaa of haq), they should never give up calling people to worship and obey none but Allah. They should also continue to remind the people of Allah and His Deen, even if only a few people or even nobody listens to them.
7. They took qiyaadah (leadership)
Another attribute, or duty of an ‘aalim is that he should always take leadership. In fact, the term ‘aalim comes from the word ‘alama, which means banner. A banner is never hidden; it can be seen from even the most remote places. Therefore, any scholar which is not leading the Ummah out of her current crises (by jihaad in the path of Allah, for example) and has the time to sit back and write volumes and editions of books, bear witness that he is not a true ‘aalim who is concerned about dealing with the affairs of the Muslims (except if he was living in a time when authority was with the Muslims and Islam was being implemented etc.). The ‘ulamaa of haq should be on the front line and lead the masses with the Qur’aan and Sunnah to victory, honour and authority on earth.
Conclusion
O believers in Allah! Never judge a book by its cover! Do not be impressed with the Arabic language, knowledge, length of beard, dress, fame, reputation, looks, books etc. of any scholar. You know very well that there are certain things in Islam which are known by necessity; such as that allying with the Kuffaar is apostasy; and alcohol, interest, free-mixing etc. are all haraam. Therefore, any scholar who permits these (no matter what justification he brings) is not a scholar of haq, rather he is a scholar of baatil.
It is not even necessary or a condition that a scholar should be given tazkiyah (recommendation) or a certificate from a so-called Islamic institution. As long as he never contradicts with what is known in Islam by necessity, follows the Qur’aan and Sunnah in accordance with the understanding of the Sahaabah and is a trustworthy Muslim who does not negate his eemaan, he will be a safe person to learn from and follow.
This issue has been made clear to us by Allah (SWT) for those who are on guidance.

“So fear them not, but fear me, if you are believers”
Allah (swt) says in the Qur’an: “So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are believers.” (3:175)
Unfortunately, we have been cultivated in this generation of time that we must fear only Mankind rather than Allah (swt). To the extent that Muslims go out of their ways to make sure that we comply with the man-made laws from fear of facing the consequences, in the mean time we overlook our countless disobedience to Allah (swt) and are heedless as to the punishment in-stored as a result.
Allah (swt) warns us: “O Mankind! Fear you Lord and be dutiful to Him. Verily, the earthquake of the Hour is a terrible thing…” (22:1-2)
This fear towards the Kuffar has resulted in the rise of many Muslims and new organizations neglecting their duties and obligations. Many Muslims are in denial and hide away by the mere mentioning of the word Jihad or Khilafah, as they wish not to offend the disbelievers. Many Muslims fear to attend circles, distribute leaflets and discuss the zulm (oppression) occurring in the Muslim lands. This fear is also seen in the Masajids as the Khaatibs dare not to speak about the wider issues of Jihad or Dawah. Rather we witness these Masajids assisting the Police by reporting Muslims who look ‘suspicious’ (i.e. speaking the Haq) or inviting the local MP’s to deliver a dars to the Muslim community.
The sell out government scholars of today fear from losing their salary or position and without any hesitation give out baatil fatawas against the true Muslims who represent the Messenger (saw) and the companions.Allah’s Messenger (saw) said: “Whoever approaches the ruler’s gate become afflicted. Whenever a slave draws closer to them ruler, he only gains distance from Allah.” (Ahmed)These ‘so called’ Ulema are seen at the doorsteps of the tyrant rulers, engaged in advising the disbelievers for measures to instill fear into the hearts of the true believers.
The oppressive government in their many attempts yet again brings about new proposals and laws to stop the Muslims from rising. From the hundreds of arrests and torture suffered by the true Ulema such as Shaykh Abu Hamza or Shaykh Abu Qatada to the arrests and trial of the recent case of Muslims demonstrating against the cartoons of the Messenger Muhammad (saw), are all attempts to strike fear towards the Muslims.
However, this does not deter away the true fearing Muslims as their Eemaan increases. They remain strong and firm upon the rulings of Allah and with patience they accept the decree of Allah. Because they know that for every difficult experience in life it will be converted into rewards in the afterlife, as Muhammad (saw) said,
“The amount of reward is in accordance with the amount of suffering. When Allah (SWT) loves some people, He tries them (with affliction). He who then is content (with Allah’s decree) has achieved the acceptance (of Allah), and he who is dissatisfied (with Allah’s decree) will attain the anger (of Allah).” [Tirmidhi]
The true believers who fear only Allah (swt) are the ones who continue to remember Allah with full submission, standing firm on His deen (Islam) waiting patiently for success. They call for the shariah, speak out against the zulm (oppression) in the Muslim lands and remain on the path of the salaf-us-saalih.
We must believe that victory is with Allah (swt), and He (swt) will grant this deen success whether the fake scholars and Mushrikeen like it or not:
Allah (swt) says: “And whoever takes Allah and the Messenger and those who believed as protectors, indeed, the party of Allah will be victorious.” (5:56)
“It is He who has sent the Messenger (Muhammad) with the true guidance and the religion of truth, to make it superior over all other religions, even though Mushrikeen hate.” (9:33)

Urgency of the Dawah
Allah (swt) says: “Say, This is my way: I call to Allah with sure knowledge, I and whosoever follows me. and Glorified and Exalted is Allah. And I am not of the Mushrikeen” [Yusuf:108]
Carrying the Da’wah is the task of Prophets. It is of the best and most honourable deeds. Allah (SWT) says: “Who is better in speech than the one who calls (men) to Allah, works righteousness, and says I am one the Muslims ?” [Fussilat:33]
For the believers who possess the Islamic Aqeeda, the current world we are living in should agitate them to carry the guidance that they posses so that it becomes established and removes the evils that are drowning the world. This will lead to a blazing passion and urgency for the Da’wah.
Our lowly situation will not be reversed without our actions, it is the actions of the Da’wah that lead to change and open the path to revival.
When our mothers and sisters cry out in Iraq or Palestine from the pain inflicted upon them by the Kuffar, when a fighter cries out in Chechnia and Afghanistan due to being bombarded, when the child in Darfur has tears of pain and hunger streaming down his face. It us that must respond to this call because today there is no Khalifah like al-Mu’tasim to rescue the women of the Ummah, there is no Umar bin al Khattab to send food for the hungry, there is no Salahudeen to protect the Islamic lands. Rather today it is us who are the guardians of this Ummah and who are responsible to bring back the protection, honour and might to this Ummah by re-establishing the Khilafah, the shade of Allah (swt) on the earth.
Allah (swt) entrusted us to be the witnesses over humanity, He (swt) says: “We have made you the best nation to be witnesses over mankind. And the Messenger as a witness over you.” [Al-Baqarah:143]
Indeed it is a great responsibility, the entire world and its problems rests upon our shoulders. But remember together with responsibility comes reward and with reward comes Jannah.
Hasan al Basri narrated that Allah’s Messenger (saw) said: “He whom death overtakes while he is engaged in acquiring knowledge with a view to reviving Islam with the help of it, there will be one degree between him and the Prophets in Paradise.” [Al-Tirmidhi]
Anas narrated that our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) said:
“There is some people in my Ummah that they are rewarded like the reward of the beginners of this Ummah; this is because they are forbidding what is wrong” [Musnad Ahmad]
Let us be these people by enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong. The Da’wah should never become a tiny flickering flame in our hearts so that we become slow in carrying it. The burning urgency of the situation of the Ummah generates the roaring fire in the heart of the believer, this should never dissipate turning us into passive beings hesitant in the actions of the Da’wah rather than being the inspirational leaders of it.
This disease is one implanted by the Shaytan, it is his call to transform the energetic into the lazy, the active into the passive and the Da’wah carrier into the lifeless drone. Indeed laziness, isolation, despair and defeatism are among the calls of Shaytan and he is trying relentlessly to lure the Da’wah carriers away from the Deen and the Da’wah. Allah (swt) mentioned that the Shaytan, Iblis said: “I will make the wrong fair seeming to the believers”.
Therefore we must banish the Shaytan and all his whispering from our hearts and minds. Allah (swt) says:
“Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind, the King of Mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the sneaking whisperer who whispers into the hearts of mankind.” [An-Naas: 1-5]
The pace of the Da’wah must be faster than our heart beats as it is more important than our interests and our blood, it is something that should awaken the sleeping and make the walking run.
The Prophet (saw) was most truthful when he (saw) said: “The grinding wheel of Islam is turning. So, turn with it wherever it turns.” [Tabarani]

“Say No To Oppression”
Penned by: Shaykh ‘Umar ‘Abdur-Rahmān
May Allāh free him and cure his ailments
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
“The leader of the martyrs, Hamzah Bin Abdil-Muttalib, a man who stood up to an unjust leader, so he commanded him [with good] and forbade him [from evil], and he killed him.” O defiant Muslims of Egypt. I feel the approach of the appointed time, and the proximity of the meeting with Allāh, and I must leave behind a will.
So here it is for you, O most beloved of the people to my heart…
Here it is for you, O my family, relatives, and kindred… Here it is for you, from the depths of my heart, purely and sincerely for the Face of my Lord…
Here it is for you, mixed with my tears; it wishes that my blood would engrave it..
Say no to oppression.Say it, O scholars of Egypt – No.
No… to the absence of our Sharī’ah for 70 years.
No… to all who allege that the Sharī’ah is enforced in Egypt!
Where is the Sharī’ah in the secular constitutions?! Where is the Sharī’ah in the usury-filled economics?! Where is the Sharī’ah in the disengaged media?! Where is the Sharī’ah in peace and in war and in education and in the administration of justice?!
If you find that the Sharī’ah has no share or allotment in all of these, then you are not our rulers, and upon us there is no listening or obedience to you.
Say it, O honorable administrators of Egypt… No.
No… to one dictatorship, and one party, and one opinion.
No… to the lowly subordination of international law; indeed the time is ripe for the Divine Sharī’ah.
No… to twelve years of the emergency and terrorist laws.
No… to invalid military courts and unjust, arbitrary detentions.
No… to the violation of the rights of the Muslims that are witnessed by every involved institution at every moment.
Say it, O judges of Egypt… No.
No… We will not be judges that lead to the Hellfire, but rather judges that lead to Paradise, by the Permission of Allāh. No… We will not rule upon the best of Egypt’s youth except with the Justice that was revealed by Allāh:
…and that when you judge between men, you judge with justice [1]So judge between them by what Allāh has revealed [2]
Those that oppress these youth are not of us… those that rule for their hangings are not from us… those that please their rulers by displeasing their Master and Protector are not from us.
Say it, O best soldiers of the Earth [3]… No.
No… We will not fight except in the Path of Allāh…
Those who believe, fight in the Cause of Allāh [4]
No… we will not fight for the sake of America and its helpers…
…and those who disbelieve, fight in the cause of Tāghūt [5]
No… and we have had enough of the destruction of ‘Irāq.
No… and we have had enough of our forsaking the Muslims of Bosnia…
No… we will not be subservient to America, which claims that Irān and Sudan cultivate terrorism!
No… we will not be an instrument for the enemy [Yitzhak] Rabin, who blatantly lies that the real danger is coming from the fundamentalists. So what, then, about the tyrannical Jews?! And what, then, about the criminal Serbs?! Are they the doves of peace? Or the messengers of love?
Say it, O defiant people of Egypt… No.
No, we are not the silent majority. Rather the seething [majority], by the Permission of Allāh. The seething [majority] in Idkū and Abī Hammād and Qalyūb. The seething [majority] in Cairo and Asyūt and Aswān. So do not pretend to cry, O you rulers, at our poverty and our hunger, and let your financial liabilities be manifest… And say [O defiant people of Egypt], ‘If you are indeed honorable and are indeed people of beneficence – from where did you get millions of dollars?’
And say [O defiant people of Egypt], ‘We are not party to the killing of the Muwahhiddīn – but how many times have we seen you with our eyes while you kill those unarmed ones praying, while they are in the heart of the Houses of Allāh!’
We are not of those who follow the funeral of the murdering transgressors, rather we follow the funerals of the youth who are in a state of ablution, those whose last deeds were prayer and fasting, and whose last words were “Lā Ilāha Ilā Allāh.”
No… we will not be absent after today, for the silence like that found within the graves has passed.
Say it O Mujāhidīn of Egypt… No.
And do not become feeble due to what befalls you in the Path of Allāh, and do not become weak and do not surrender.
… if you are suffering (hardships) then surely, they (too) are suffering (hardships) as you are suffering, but you have a hope from Allāh (for Paradise) that for which they hope not [6]
Retaliate with the like of that which you were made to suffer, and if you are made to suffer after that, then know that Allāh is indeed your Helper.
That is so. And whoever has retaliated with the like of that which he was made to suffer, and then has again been wronged, Allāh will surely help him [7]
Shake the platforms of the judiciary, reciting:
So decree whatever you desire to decree, for you can only decree (regarding) this life of the world.[8]
Smash the executioners in the domains of torture, repeating, “Verily Allāh tortures those who torture the people in the Dunyā.”[9]Regard the Pharaonic threats as something good, for they are – By Allāh – the last signs of despair and the first drops of rain… Remain steadfast in the face of the savage courts, for indeed the blood of the martyrs is what engraves the letters of Victory for the nations.
And here, I say it with you… No.
No to you, O Mubarak, and your regime and your gallows and your iron and your fire… your oppressive state will not last for an hour, and indeed perpetuity is for the Islāmic state until the Day of Resurrection.
So plot against me, O enemies, or do not plot; conspire against me or do not conspire, for indeed if I am banished, then Hijrah is the path of the beloved Prophet. And if I am imprisoned, then indeed the noble Yūsuf was cast into prison. And if I am slaughtered, then the leader, Yahyā, preceded me to the slaughter.
This is my creed and my message, and if I betray, then what an evil transaction. And indeed I have chosen – by the Praise of Allāh – to fulfill the covenant a long time ago, so choose what you seek for yourselves from now, for this is the time to make a choice.
And by Allāh, O Egypt…
Indeed I longed that my blood would run, gushing forth for the sake of Allāh on your soil, and that your purest sons would pray upon me, and that your best men would carry me to the grave… for then I would march with tranquility to a Generous Lord, and you, O Mujāhidūn, would march to proceed upon the purest path.
So fear Allāh as He should be feared, and fight for Allāh as He should be fought for, and we will certainly meet, by the Permission of Allāh… we will meet at the doorstep of the Islāmic state, and together we will knock at the doors of Dār Al-Islām.
And may Allāh accept from us and from you.
Was-Salāmu ‘AlaykumWaRahmatullāhiWa Barakātuh
And I ask of you your supplications.
Your brother,‘Umar Abdur-Rahmān
The beginning of Shawwāl, 1413 H.
[3] Note: The hadīth from ‘Umar Bin Al-Khattāb that the Messenger of Allāh said,“If Allāh opens Egypt for you, then take from it a heavy amount of soldiers, for those soldiers are the Earth’s best soldiers.” Abu Bakr said, “Why, O Messenger of Allāh?” He said, “Because they and their wives are in Ribāt until the Day of Resurrection.” It was reported by Ibn Abdul-Hakam in Futūh Misr, and by Ad-Dāriqutnī in Al-Mu’talaf wal-Mukhtalaf, and Ibn Zuwalāq in Fadā’il Misr, as well as Ibn ‘Asākir in Tārīkh Dimashq, from Abdullāh bin Luhī’ah from Al-Aswad bin Mālik Al-Hamīrī, from Bahīr Bin Dhākhir Al-Mu’āfirī, from ‘Amr Bin Al-‘Ās, from ‘Umar Bin Al-Khattāb, may Allāh have Mercy upon him. And its chain is weak, because it centers on Ibn Luhī’ah, and he is weak.

Al Hukm is Only For Allah
By Shaykh ‘Abdur Rahman ‘Abdul Khaliq
From the book “Scientific Basis of the Salafi Da`wah” [Al-Usool al 'Ilmiyyah li Da'wati s Salafiyyah]
Believing that Allah alone has the right to legislate for mankind in all aspects of life and Religion. Allah (Subhannah wa Ta’aala) said,
And Allah Judges, there is none to put back His Judgement… {Surah ar-Rad 13: 41}
And,
The decision (al hukm) is only for Allah… {al-Ana’am 6: 57}
The right to legislate is for Allah (Subhannah wa Ta’aala) alone. Halaal (permissible) is what Allah made Halaal, Haraam (impermissible) is what Allah made Haraam, the Religion, the Law, the way to follow, the Path and the Faith to embrace, are all for Allah (Ta’aala) alone to decide. There are rulers and kings who consider what Allah made Halaal to be Haraam and what He made Haraam to be Halaal. This is an act of aggression against Allah (Ta’aala) in that they deny Him the right to legislate in His Kingdom and Domain.
Today, many rulers and kings have transgressed against Allah (Ta’aala) with regards to the right of legislating.
They have dared to refute the Creator, the King and Ever High, rendering Halaal what He has made Haraam, considering Haraam what He has permitted and referring to other than what He has revealed for Judgement. They sometimes claim that Allah’s Law is out-dated for today’s needs, or that it does not satisfy needs or justice, equality and freedom or that it does not lead to power and honor. To say that these unjust rulers and kings are Believers is a transgression against Allah (Subhannah wa Ta’aala) and Kufr in Him. Sadly, a majority of people follow their leaders in their misguided rule which is in opposition to what Allah (Ta’aala) has revealed.
These people pray and fast and claim to be Muslims!
The Salafi Da’wah is Jihad (struggle) in all that the word ‘Jihad’ carries of meanings. This Jihad has been established to return the right to legislate to its rightful Owner, to make the Religion Allah’s alone, to rid the Ummah (Muslim nation) from the biggest Shirk, to eliminate Kufr that many Muslims have fallen into and to make Allah’s Word the highest and the word of Kufr the lowest. This will not happen unless people refer to Allah (Ta’aala) alone for Judgement and legislation according to what He has revealed in His Book and in the Sunnah of His Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhee wa sallam).
Legislation in Islam must only be derived from the Qur’an, Sunnah and Ijtihad (reaching an opinion that is based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah) of scholars. This will lead to what brings about Allah’s Pleasure and what is in accordance to His Law. This Jihad also seeks to destroy all Shirk by Da’wah (propagating Islam) and by calling all Muslims to adhere to the Truth.
This type of Jihad, Da’wah, is an obligation that must be fulfilled because referring to Allah (Subhannah wa Ta’aala) alone for Judgement is one of the basics of the Salafi Belief.

Dawah in the West
by the Noble Shaykh, Naasir ibn Hamd al-Fahd (May Allah hasten his release from captivity)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, and may Salah and Salam be upon the Messenger of Allaah, to proceed:
Know, my Muslim brother, that from the principles of the religion of Islam is disbelieving in the Taghut, and this is half of tawheed; its other half being belief in Allah, as Allah the Most High says:
Whoever disbelieves in the Taghut and believes in Allah, then he has held unto the firm hand hold.
And He said:
And we have sent in every people a Messenger saying worship Allah and steer clear of The Taghut.
And from disbelief in the Taghut is: declaring (ones) disavowal from Kufr and its people, and hating them, and having enmity towards them, as Allah the Most High says: There has been a good example in Ibrahim and those who were with him, when they said to their people: “We are free from you and what you worship besides Allah, we have disbelieved in you, and enmity and hatred has begun between us and you until you believe in Allah alone.”
Shaykh ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahulla) said: For Allah has ordered us to follow in the way of Ibrahim and those who were with him, as they declared Bara’ah (innocence, disavowal) from the Mushrikin and what they worship besides Allah, and al-Khalil (Ibrahim) said: “I am free from what you worship, except the One who created me. Indeed He shall guide me,” and having Bara’ah is opposite of allegiance, and the foundation of Bara’ah is hatred, and the foundation of allegiance is love, and this is because the reality of tawheed is to not love except Allah, and to love what Allah loves, thus he doesn’t love except for Allah, and does not hate except for Allah.
Many of the Muslims have been tested by living in the lands of the Kafirun (disbelievers), for various reasons; however the hukm (Islamic ruling) upon living in the lands of the Kuffar has various details which the people of knowledge have mentioned, generally compromising three categories;
The First Category: If the Muslim is capable of openly declaring his religion, as well as declaring publicly his disbelief and rejection of the Taghut, then it is permissible for him to reside there, and if he is a public caller (daaie) to Allah whilst living between Kuffar, then it may even be praiseworthy and recommended for him to reside there, and this was the condition of the Prophets when they lived amongst their people.
The Second Category: If he is unable to openly declare his religion, and is able to migrate to a land where he can openly declare his religion in it, then it becomes obligatory to do so.
TheThird Category: If he is unable to openly declare his religion, and is unable to migrate, then he is from the weak excused ones, but he must refrain from interacting with the Kuffar and mixing with them as much as possible. And, all this has been explained elsewhere.
For this reason, it is obligatory upon those Muslims who reside in the land of the Kuffar (Daar ul Kufr) to actualise the Millah of Ibrahim (as) by declaring Bara’ah from the Kuffar and their religion, and to openly show them hatred and enmity. However, I wish to make two issues related to this matter clear;
The First Issue: Actualising the Millah of Ibrahim does not mean leaving calling the Kuffar to Islam in a nice manner, for the Messenger (saw) was open to the Kuffar from his people in his declaration of their Kufr, and his enmity and hatred towards them, and this did not prevent him (saw) from calling them to Islam by softness, mildness, and with good reminders. In this matter two types of people have fallen into misguidance,
1. Those who see nothing except softness in calling people to Islam, so he left openly showing enmity and hatred to the disbelievers, and thus fell into having allegiance (towards them).
2. Those who see nothing but hatred and enmity towards them, so they ignore inviting them to Islam by mildness.
The Second Issue: The actualisation of the Millah of Ibrahim does not mean being treacherous to the Kuffar or cheating them or their wealth if they give a contract of passage (or safety) to the Muslim, for the Muslim, if he is granted a contract of protection and passage by way of an agreed upon contract with the Kafir, even if only by way of custom, then it becomes prohibited on him to be treacherous or deceive them.
I ask Allah, the Glorified the Most High to forgive the ones who wrote, translated, published and read it from amongst the Muslims, and I ask Him the Glorified to help us all to that which He loves and is pleased with, and to grant us sincerity, and to accept from our actions, and to keep us firm until we meet Him, and may Salah and Salam be upon our Messenger Muhammad, and upon his family and Companions.
Shaykh Naasir bin Hamd al-Fahd (May Allah hasten his release from captivity)
